English Language Week

Dear Parents,

We will be celebrating English Language Week during Week 1 of Term 2. Below is some information I would like to share with you:

1.         Theme: Celebrating A World of Adventure

2.        The boys are encouraged to read the book, ‘Butterfly Battle (The Magic School Bus).

3.        There will be an opening ceremony on Tuesday, 25 March.

-The boys are strongly encouraged to come to school dressed as any character from any adventure book.

-If your child is keen to participate, kindly ensure that he is dressed in his costume by 7.15 a.m. on that day.

-The costume should not be bought or rented.

-All other pupils are to be dressed in the school uniform.

-Tokens will be awarded to the top five costumes worn by the boys in each class.

-A medal will be awarded to the best costume in every class.

-The winner is to wear his costume on Friday, 28 March to receive his prize during the Closing Ceremony and Prize Presentation.

4.     Suggestions for characters:
        -Robin Hood
-Peter Pan
-Gulliver
-Sinbad
-Aladdin
-Pirate eg Jack Sparrow
-Woody, Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story
-Harry Potter
-Tintin
-Robinson Crusoe

5.        There will be activities conducted in the classroom and during recess.

-Kindly ensure that your child brings food on Thursday, 27 March so that he would have ample time to complete the activities at the various stations during recess.

-Stations:

Robin Hood – outside Family Room
Butterfly Battle – outside Library
Robinson Crusoe – outside the Toucan Cage
Captain Underpants – outside Philosophy Room
A Series of Unfortunate Events – corridor leading to Philosophy Room
Percy Jackson – outside Staff Room 1
           
6.        There will be a book talk for the Primary Two pupils on Thursday, 27 March.

7.        There will be a book fair selling books on adventure on Thursday and Friday, 27 and 28 March.
