Important Matters

Dear Parents,

Kindly take note of the following:

(A) Notification distributed today:
1. PTM
-Only selected pupils have been issued the above.

2. E-learning Day

(B) To be submitted tomorrow:

1. Spelling book
-Corrections are to be completed.
-Parent's signature is required.

2. GV Test paper/English file
-Parent's signature is required.

3. Notification of PTM
-Kindly acknowledge and return the reply slip.

(C) Evening of Theatre
1. Kindly ensure that your child brings his own water bottle to school tomorrow.

2. For pupils who are staying back in school after 1.45 pm:
-1.45 pm: Lunch (School bags are to be left in the classroom.)
-2.15 pm: Assemble in the library.
*No personal belongings such as school bag, water bottle, etc are to be taken in the library.
-3 pm: Assemble in 2Goodness classroom.

3. For pupils who are going home after 1.45 pm:
-3 pm: Assemble in 2Goodness classroom.

4. Schedule
-3 pm: Rehearsal
-5.30 pm: Dinner
-7.30 pm: Start of concert

5. The boys will be stationed in the library after dinner. Kindly refrain from going to the library to look for your child because the instructors, PVs and I will be helping the boys to dress up and put on their make-up. Moreover, there will be two other classes stationed there. I will keep all parents updated via watsapp. However, in the event of an emergency, please feel free to call me.

6. After the concert has ended, the boys will be taken back to the library to change and retrieve their personal belongings. Kindly refrain from going to the library until the announcement to inform parents to pick up their children has been given.

Speak Well Booklet

Dear Parents,

Kindly take note that the boys took home the above today. We will be practising the Stimulus-based Conversation this term. There will be no formal nor informal assessment.

Kindly do the following:
1. Read through Pages 6 and 7.

2. Read through the example on Page 8.

3. Carry out the practice exercise on Page 10.
(Your child is NOT allowed to write down his 'answers' before nor after the practice.)

4. Remind your child to submit the booklet on Monday.

Research

Dear Boys,

On Thursday, you will be writing a short text about your favourite underwater creature. I need you to do some research on it. You may also prepare a picture of the creature as a reference as you need to draw and colour it on the worksheet which will be given to you on Thursday.

Do consider the following guiding questions when doing your research:

1.        What is your favourite underwater creature?
*Choose only 1!

2.       How does it look like? 
*You are to describe its external features.

3.       What does it eat?

4.       What can it do?

Dear Parents,

1. Poem Recitation
-Kindly note that the boys were given a poem, 'Sea Creatures' today as part of the Non-weighted AMODES. They will participate in a peer assessment (refer to the attached rubrics) in Week 6. Kindly ensure that your child practises the recitation of the poem at home. He may wish to recite the poem along with some hand gestures. There is NO need for him to memorise the poem. On the day(s) of the assessment, the poem will be displayed on the screen in the classroom.

-Kindly sign on the paper and remind your child to show it to me tomorrow.

2. Homework

-Kindly ensure that your child completes his work and submits the book tomorrow.

2. Making of a diorama
-Theme: Underwater World
-When: either Week 4 or 5
-Preparation: plastic or paper figurines of sea creatures

The boys will be making a diorama in their groups. Every boy is to prepare at least 3 plastic or paper figurines of sea creatures. Kindly refer to the link below for some ideas:

What's up?

Dear Parents,

Here's a preview of what is happening in Week 2:

1. Commemoration of International Friendship Day
*Classroom activities will be carried out during SS lesson on Monday, 31 March.
-Pupils are to bring an ink pad of any colour (if have), wet tissue, glue and a pair of scissors.   
*A short talk and quiz will be conducted during the Class Contact /Fun Friday period on Friday, 4 April.
*Food sampling stations will be set up during recess on Friday, 4 April. (No extension of recess time)

3. Touch Typing
*The boys will be attending the above lesson on Thursday, 3 April.
*Kindly write your child's BC number in his diary and ensure that he knows the number by heart.

Reminder - Photo-taking Session

Dear Parents,

Kindly note that the boys will be taking their class photos on tomorrow (25 March). They are to be dressed in their full school uniform including a proper school tie. Kindly ensure that your child has a haircut prior to the photo-taking session. Your child may also bring along a favourite item eg a toy for the taking of the fun candid shots. Kindly ensure that the toy is small, and not fragile nor expensive.

If your child is taking part in the costume parade, he needs to change out of his costume after morning assembly. After the photo taking session, all the boys are to change into their PE attire.

Are you ready?

Dear Boys,

How are you? Have you enjoyed yourselves thoroughly during the past week? Are you ready to be back in school for another 10 weeks of fun and learning?!


Anyhow, I hope you have packed your school bag and placed both your English files in it. Please remind mummy or daddy to take you for a haircut if your hair is long. I need you to look super handsome on Tuesday because we will be taking photographs as a class.


Yes, Mrs Tan is all ready and looking pretty!

I hope you are excited about the English Language Week and looking forward to it too! For those of you who are participating in the costume parade, do get your costume ready, and get your mummy or daddy to pack your school uniform, school tie, PE attire and a favourite item for Tuesday. I hope to see many of you dressed up as adventurers on that day! Oh, do let your parents know that the book fair will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday (Yes, the dates have been changed!) too.

English Language Week

Dear Parents,

We will be celebrating English Language Week during Week 1 of Term 2. Below is some information I would like to share with you:

1.         Theme: Celebrating A World of Adventure

2.        The boys are encouraged to read the book, ‘Butterfly Battle (The Magic School Bus).

3.        There will be an opening ceremony on Tuesday, 25 March.

-The boys are strongly encouraged to come to school dressed as any character from any adventure book.

-If your child is keen to participate, kindly ensure that he is dressed in his costume by 7.15 a.m. on that day.

-The costume should not be bought or rented.

-All other pupils are to be dressed in the school uniform.

-Tokens will be awarded to the top five costumes worn by the boys in each class.

-A medal will be awarded to the best costume in every class.

-The winner is to wear his costume on Friday, 28 March to receive his prize during the Closing Ceremony and Prize Presentation.

4.     Suggestions for characters:

Terrific Thursday Worksheet

Dear Parents,

Kindly note that the boys are tasked to do the above today.

The photo required:

1. has to be a family photo (with at least 1 family member in it)
2. can depict a local or overseas trip
3. can be as big as or smaller than the rectangular box
4. can be a printed copy on paper (in colour or black and white)

Kindly ensure that your child pastes the photo securely on the paper, completes the sentences and submits the worksheet tomorrow.

English Matters

Dear Parents,

Kindly note that the following was distributed to the boys today:

1. Write Right! booklet
-The boys have learnt how to write interesting opening sentences for the introductory paragraph of their story.
-Kindly refer to Handout 2 from Pages 11 to 16.
-Kindly remind your child to complete his corrections on Page 16 and submit the booklet tomorrow.

2. Learning Sheet 3.9
-Kindly note that LS 3.9 in the Unit 3 booklet has been replaced by the one the boys took home today.
-Many of the boys still need a lot of practice in answering questions in an open-ended Comprehension exercise.
-Some of the boys need to re-examine and revise their corrections. Kindly refer to the attached notes for more information.
-Kindly sign and remind your child to submit the set of papers tomorrow.

3. AMODES 1 2014 Reading (Teacher's Copy)
-Kindly sign and remind your child to submit the paper tomorrow.

Today the boys learnt about collective nouns. Due to time constraints, the boys were unable to complete the online lesson. Kindly allow your child to access the online lesson so that he may complete it and attempt the five exercises that follow.
